ADVENTURE

BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Acapulco Botanical Garden, located on the slopes of the Sierra Madre del Sur, is one of the most significant natural spaces in the municipality, a green refuge that seems to rise above the urban hustle and bustle and offers an intimate glimpse of the environmental richness that characterizes this region of the Mexican Pacific. From its inception, the garden was conceived not only as a place for recreation, but also as a space for the preservation of species that had been disappearing due to urban growth.

This space has also become an environmental education center where schools, tourists, and families can learn about the importance of conservation, how ecosystems work, and the fundamental role that plants play in everyday life. Workshops, guided tours, observation activities, and reforestation programs are part of the garden's work to strengthen ecological awareness in the municipality. The place represents a little-known facet of Acapulco, one that has nothing to do with the beach or nightlife, but rather with the nature that sustains the port from its roots.

STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING

Stand-up paddleboarding is one of the favorite activities in Acapulco because it can be practiced by children and adults with or without previous experience. In this activity, you paddle while standing on a board or paddle board with the help of a paddle in Acapulco Bay. Although no previous experience is necessary to do this activity, it is important to have an instructor who can teach you the basic skills for paddling and maintaining your balance, and who can accompany you during the trip to make your adventure a safe experience.

The ride varies depending on the wind conditions at the beach you are at, but for beginners, it is recommended to do it in the morning, as the bay has very little swell at dawn, making it seem like you are in a swimming pool. Stand-up paddleboarding adventures are also available on night tours that allow you to enjoy the lighting after sunset in Acapulco Bay, especially on the nights of the full moon each month.

CYCLING

Experience exploring every corner of the Port of Acapulco by bicycle; here we tell you where you can do this activity during your visit.

Fisherman's Walk

With 1.8 km of shared path with pedestrians, this circuit can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, starting at Manzanillo Beach, passing through the Zócalo, the Malecón, and Parque de la Reina, where you can continue along the bike path that joins the coastal road. If you don't have a bike, there are several places where you can rent bikes opposite the Paseo del Pescador.

Pie de la Cuesta – Coyuca Bar

This 15-kilometer bike path starts at the Pie de la Cuesta Air Base and ends at Barra de Coyuca. It is perfect for exploring with friends or family, as it has six playgrounds, benches for resting, and flower beds for taking a break before continuing on your way.

Diamante Bonfil Cycle Path

The magnificent Bonfil Beach in the Diamante area has a 5.3 km bike path with a right lane for cycling at speeds of over 25 km/h. A route with no steep slopes, ideal for riding in the mornings or afternoons with children or amateurs. Along the way, you will find different rest areas, shops, restaurants, and places where you can spend time with your family.

FISHERMAN'S WALK

The Paseo del Pescador tourist corridor is the ideal place to enjoy an incredible sunrise or sunset in Acapulco. Located on the Miguel Alemán coastal avenue, it starts at the pier and ends at Manzanillo beach.

This site is a must-see on your next visit, as it offers a unique alternative in Acapulco where you can enjoy an incredible sunrise or sunset while strolling along this traditional promenade.

In addition, here you can find craft shops and restaurants specializing in seafood and, with luck, witness the arrival of boats, giving you the opportunity to interact with fishermen and purchase some of the catch of the day. The Fisherman's Walk has become part of the new tourist face that enhances the Traditional Zone of Acapulco. A highly recommended place.

SPORTS

ACAPULCO ROLLER

Roller Acapulco is the perfect option for those seeking fun on the move and contact with urban nature. Here, both enthusiasts and beginners can skate (either on rollerblades or classic skates) in open spaces within Papagayo Park, where the vibrant atmosphere and sea breeze combine to create a unique experience.

This recreational plan is not only dynamic and exciting, but has also established itself as an ideal activity for families and active tourists who want to enjoy the outdoors, a fresh and thrilling way to discover Acapulco with adrenaline. The track is designed so that both beginners and experienced skaters can enjoy themselves without pressure. Friendly instructors help those who don't have much practice, while the more advanced find enough space to slide, spin, or try some more creative steps.

SURFING SPOT

The history of surfing in Revolcadero began spontaneously when the first national and foreign surfers visiting Acapulco in the 1970s and 1980s discovered that this beach had a very different break than the traditional areas. While in other parts of the port the waves were gentler and suitable for recreational swimming.

DID YOU KNOW?

Before becoming famous for surfing, the first tourists who arrived in the 1970s visited it solely to feel "the force of the sea," as the waves were so strong that many said that a single roll in the Pacific there "took away your stress for the whole week."

Over time, it has established itself as one of the favorite spots for intermediate and advanced surfers. Its extensive sandy beaches, the intense blue of the sea, and the constant sound of the waves make it a unique experience.

KAYAKING IN ACAPULCO

Enjoy the adventure and go kayaking, one of the many water activities awaiting you in Acapulco.

One of the favorite places for visitors to Acapulco to go kayaking, either alone or with a partner, is La Roqueta Island. It is located opposite the beaches of Caleta and Caletilla, from where you can safely set off to start your day. On your kayak trip around La Roqueta, you can enjoy its abundant vegetation, the birds that inhabit it, and a magnificent view of the city and its beach.

Another excellent place to go kayaking is Laguna de Coyuca, a freshwater lake located 10 km from Acapulco. Here you can discover its biodiversity of plant and animal species, as well as the beauty of its mangroves.

Pork filling is a dish representative of Guerrero cuisine and homemade flavor. In Acapulco, it is enjoyed any day, especially in the mornings, accompanied by a freshly baked bolillo roll. It combines pork, spices, diced vegetables, and raisins. Its origin is linked to family celebrations, transmitting tradition and culture.

It is commonly referred to as bolillo con relleno, as it is usually served inside a warm bolillo roll that enhances its juicy and spicy mixture. Although it can also be accompanied by tortillas, the bolillo version is the most traditional and preserves the homemade and familiar character of the port. In Acapulco, pork filling appears in dishes that revive traditional flavors and at regional food fairs. It is ideal for those who want to discover Guerrero's flavors beyond seafood.

NATURE

BONFIL BEACH

Bonfil Beachis one of those places where you can experience the real Acapulco. Located in the west of the city, very close to the Diamond Zone, it combines nature, culture, and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to stay.

Its constant waves have made it a meeting point for surfers of all levels, with options for taking lessons and enjoying the sea. The natural environment, marked by sea turtle nesting and its proximity to the Laguna de Tres Palos, gives it the feel of a sanctuary facing the ocean. In season, the release of turtles becomes an ecological experience that excites both children and adults alike.

Recognized in 2024 as a Barrio Mágico (Magical Neighborhood), Playa Bonfil celebrates its identity with local flavors, surfboards on the sand, and sunsets that bathe each visit in golden light, leaving visitors with the feeling of having discovered a more intimate and authentic Acapulco.

ROQUETA ISLAND

The only way to reach La Roqueta Island is by boat; the trip takes just a few minutes and offers panoramic views of the bay. In addition to this mode of transport, there are tour options that include a longer trip around the bay, ideal for seeing Acapulco from a different perspective. Arriving at La Roqueta is like embarking on an exciting journey that will remain etched in your heart. It is known for its crystal clear and calm waters.

One of the main attractions of La Roqueta is its impressive underwater world. Diving on this island is a fascinating experience due to the marine diversity that inhabits its waters. Several meters below the sea lies the submerged sculpture of the Virgin of the Seas, a spiritual and cultural attraction for sea lovers and those who snorkel in the area. Kayaking, meanwhile, is a quiet way to explore the coast and discover hidden corners. In addition, the island has hiking trails through its tropical vegetation, a very enriching activity.

TURTLE CAMP

Oneof the most moving and exciting experiences for any visitor is the release of baby turtles at Playa Hermosa. As the sun sets, tiny shells begin their incredible journey to the sea, a process full of hope and magic that connects people with nature and conservation. Each baby turtle represents an enormous struggle, as only one in a thousand will grow to adulthood.

This reality makes participating in the release a unique opportunity to feel the responsibility of caring for and protecting these fragile creatures. Trained staff guide visitors to respect the established rules and ensure that the process is safe for the hatchlings, making this a very special moment. Every year, hundreds of visitors come to this beach to enjoy a unique and exciting experience: the release of sea turtle hatchlings and watching them enter the sea for the first time. Without a doubt, this activity is a call to protect our ecosystems and enjoy the magic that only marine life can offer.

TRES PALOS LAGOON

The Tres Palos Lagoon, located west of Acapulco Bay, between Puerto Marqués and the International Airport, flows into the Pacific Ocean in the shape of a bar and measures 15 km long by 5.5 km wide. This earthly paradise is so vast that it blends into the sea; in fact, it is almost three times the size of the famous Santa Lucía Bay or Acapulco Bay.

The lagoon has kept its ecosystem intact, making it a favorite spot for birdwatchers, who enjoy observing birds and admiring the natural coastal landscapes.

The Tres Palos Lagoon has been the ideal setting for the filming of renowned movies such as "Tarzan and the Mermaids," starring Johnny Weissmüller, as well as the movie "Ya Veremos," starring Fernanda del Castillo and Mauricio Ochmann.

In this area, you will find boats to explore the lagoon, all with local guides ready to show you the secrets of this beautiful passage covered by mangroves. A more fun and adrenaline-filled option is to explore it on a jet ski.
