Welcome to Baja California!

Baja California, the noble and strong arm of Mexico, is a state of opportunities and innovation grand, multicultural, and diverse where the desert and the sea meet. Explore its seven destinations: Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, Ensenada, Tecate, Mexicali, San Felipe, and San Quintín. From dynamic urban life to tranquil beaches and charming wine valleys, each corner offers you a unique experience.

In 2025, Baja California proudly hosts the Tianguis Turístico de México, marking the first-ever binational edition of the event. This unique platform will allow visitors to discover the region’s rich tourism offerings in a comprehensive way, strengthening ties between Mexico and the United States, where everyone is welcome.

Tijuana: Known as the gateway to Mexico, it is an innovative and multicultural city. Famous for being the birthplace of the world-renowned Caesar’s Salad, which celebrated its centennial in 2024, Tijuana boasts a strategic location and air connectivity to 38 domestic and 3 international destinations. It also features the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), a binational bridge that facilitates crossing between Mexico and the United States, and the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the busiest land border crossing in the world. The city also stands out for its wide range of health and wellness services, attracting visitors seeking high-quality medical care.

Playas de Rosarito: Located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, the city offers vibrant nightlife, with a variety of bars and clubs for visitors looking for entertainment and fun. In addition to enjoying the sun and sea, it offers various outdoor activities, such as surfing, paragliding, and ATV rides. Rosarito’s gastronomy is another of its main attractions, with highlights including fresh seafood and the famous Puerto Nuevo-style lobster.

Ensenada:: Known for its wide range of tourism, gastronomy, and cultural offerings. It is home to the Guadalupe Valley, one of the most important wine regions in Mexico, attracting wine enthusiasts with its many wineries and tastings. Additionally, the Port of Ensenada has become the leading Pacific port in Mexico for cruise ship arrivals and passengers. The city’s gastronomy is notable, with iconic dishes such as Ensenada-style fish tacos and seafood carts, showcasing the region’s rich culinary tradition.

Tecate: The only ‘Pueblo Mágico’ on the border, it is a peaceful and picturesque destination surrounded by imposing mountains and vineyards that invite relaxation. It is famous for its spas and wellness centers. Nearby, La Rumorosa offers an impressive landscape of rock formations that defy the imagination. Tecate is home to a rich cultural heritage, including the archaeological site 'El Vallecito,' as well as a renowned culinary and craft beer scene.

Mexicali: The state capital is a contemporary city with a deep-rooted cultural heritage. La Chinesca, Baja California’s first ‘Barrio Mágico’, was established in the late 19th century by a significant group of Chinese immigrants who settled in Mexicali. To escape the intense heat, they built underground structures, which remain a part of the area's charm. Mexicali reflects the fusion of Chinese and Mexican cultures, making it a must-see destination.

San Felipe: This charming town on the shores of the Gulf of California, known as the ‘aquarium of the world’, is ideal for those who enjoy sun and sea. With its white sand beaches and warm waters, San Felipe is perfect for water activities such as sport fishing, banana boating, and kayaking. A visit to the Valley of the Giants is a must, where you can see impressive cacti reaching nearly 20 meters in height. Its relaxed atmosphere and delicious seafood cuisine make San Felipe an ideal destination for a peaceful vacation.

San Quintín: Located on the Pacific coast, San Quintín is known for its vast agricultural lands and rich biodiversity. It is a paradise for nature lovers, offering opportunities for bird watching, fishing, and exploring unique landscapes such as the region’s sand dunes and impressive wetlands. The freshness of its seafood, especially oysters and clams, is a delight for visitors.

Gastronomy

Baja California, with its unique blend of flavors and landscapes, has become a must-visit destination for food and drink enthusiasts. Today, it is an international gastronomic reference, as well as a leader in the production of craft beer and fine wines.

Over the years, Baja California has become renowned as the birthplace of 'Mexico’s Most Revolutionary Gastronomy', which allowed the region’s talent and flavors to stand out in the historic first edition of the prestigious Michelin Guide Mexico 2024. From the Pacific waves to the vineyards of the Guadalupe Valley, the state offers a unique culinary experience that fuses regional products with innovative techniques, reflecting the cultural diversity of the region.

Baja California’s gastronomy was awarded 3 Michelin stars, 3 green stars, 8 Bib Gourmand, 22 recommendations, and 2 special awards.

Additionally, the region boasts a prolific craft beer industry. From Tijuana to San Quintín, each of the 7 destinations that make up the state offers a wide variety of craft beers that reflect the creativity and passion of their brewers. From IPAs to stouts, Baja California, 'The Craft Beer Oasis', has something for everyone’s taste.

With two routes designed to explore the best of craft beer in the region, in Ensenada you can discover your new favorite beer through the Centro, Coastal, Urban, and Guadalupe Valley circuits, featuring 36 local breweries. In Mexicali, the state capital, you can enjoy more than 20 "cachanilla" breweries distributed across the Civic Center, Hotel Zone, and Historic Center circuits.

Also known as 'The Capital of Mexican Wine' the state is responsible for more than 70% of the country’s wine production. Baja California wines are renowned for their excellence and diversity.

The unique combination of Mediterranean climate and fertile soil creates the ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality grapes in our seven wine valleys: Tanamá, La Grulla, San Vicente, Ojos Negros, Santo Tomás, Valle San Jacinto, and Valle de Guadalupe. The latter has become an international reference, producing exceptional wines paired with a revolutionary culinary scene.
