Acapulco welcomes Tianguis Turístico 2024 with open arms

With a hotel occupancy rate of almost 40 percent, Acapulco, Guerrero, welcomes thousands of tourists, federal, state and local officials, as well as exhibitors and participants in the first day of the Tianguis Turístico 2024. Historic event that marks the destination, after the devastation of Hurricane Otis, in October 2023.

According to Acapulco's Secretary of Tourism, hotel occupancy in the Golden Zone is 50.4 percent, while the Diamond Zone is 31.1 percent and the Traditional Zone is 22.4 percent, figures that were not seen in a normal week and even more so when it is the return to classes, after two weeks of vacation for Easter Week.

Merchants, restaurateurs, the hotel and tourism sector, have good expectations and are positive, because on this first day, the streets, public transport buses, cabs and establishments are with good numbers of customers, in addition to a large influx near the Expo Mundo Imperial, where the pavilions of the 32 states of Mexico are located.

The official inauguration and ribbon cutting will take place on Wednesday, April 10, with the presence of Miguel Torruco Marqués, Federal Secretary of Tourism, as well as the various governors of Mexico. This event will give participants the opportunity to enter the Expo Mundo Imperial to tour 97 pavilions.

These pavilions are divided into two, 65 are corporate and 32 are from the states of the country; in addition, the Ministry of Tourism has confirmed the presence of 1,337 buyers from 787 companies, as well as the presence of 43 countries, including Mexico, and the presence of 1,441 exhibitors from 852 companies.

It was confirmed, through the Ministry of Tourism, that some of the activities that will take place in this Tianguis Turístico 2024 is the launching of a special edition of the National Lottery ticket, with themes alluding to tourist sites of the destination, for the rebirth of Acapulco.

It is worth mentioning that this edition of the Tianguis Turístico 2024 is the 48th and the fourth to be Inclusive, which aims to encourage, promote and raise awareness about the labor insertion of people with disabilities, in conjunction with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, as well as businessmen, associations and federal entities.

Background

The Tianguis was created in 1975 in the city of Acapulco, with the objective of promoting and selling a destination, unique for its history, culture and natural beauty, in addition to positioning Mexico, through Acapulco, among the tastes and preferences of travelers.

Thus, the Acapulco International Hotel and Tourism Agency Fair (HATA) was created, which immediately brought together the best of the international industry. Later, it was consolidated as Tianguis Turístico de Acapulco (Acapulco Tourism Tianguis).

In 2011 it was announced the intention to take the Tianguis Turístico de Acapulco to other destinations, in 2012 it was in Jalisco, in 2013 in Puebla, and in 2014 in Quintana Roo.
