9,500 hotel rooms are available in Acapulco for the Tianguis Turístico

More than five months after the impact of Hurricane Otis and the considerable damage it caused, Acapulco is still in the process of recovery and has already restored 46.3% of the 21,000 hotel rooms it had before the natural phenomenon.

The federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that just a few days before the celebration of the Tianguis Turístico 2024 in Acapulco, nearly 10 thousand hotel rooms are already available.

"We already have 9,500 hotel rooms available, that is, 500 more than were made available for the Tianguis. We must remember that the total supply is 21,000, but we have made efforts to provide more and more rooms," said Torruco Marqués.

These statements were made during the presentation of the "Acapulco Renacerá" lottery ticket, which took place yesterday at Expo Mundo Imperial. The official explained that initially the goal had been set to provide 5 thousand rooms for the Tianguis Turístico, but this goal has been surpassed.

"When there is unity in the private sector, with the local population and the three levels of government, there is no obstacle for Mexicans. There were many who said that in five months it would be impossible to build Acapulco. I even said that we were only going to have 5,000 rooms ready, but today we have more," he added.

Expectations for this event

Regarding expectations for this year's Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco, Torruco Marqués said that for this 48th edition, 1,952 exhibitors from 1,37 companies are expected to participate, making this event one of the largest since its inception.

"As of April 6, we have 1,337 buyers, which is a very relevant figure. In addition, the country's 32 states will be participating and we will have representation from 43 nations," commented Torruco.
