Miguel Torruco celebrates Mexico's sixth place ranking in foreign investment
During the 54th Ordinary Assembly of the Union of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (Asetur), Miguel Torruco Marqués, Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, commented that according to data from the World Tourism Organization, Mexico has moved up to sixth place in terms of foreign direct investment.
"In foreign direct investment there has also been a great effort and we already passed in large investment projects in the sixth position according to the latest information from the World Tourism Organization," he said.
Part of this, he says, is the result of the Tianguis Turístico 2024, which is being held in Acapulco, Guerrero.
They are meeting as an association of tourism secretaries and they asked me to come because they made a recognition.
"It looked very difficult at the beginning, but the strength of all the people of Acapulco, Guerrero and the efforts of the private sector have been fundamental, especially the coordination of the three levels of government," he said.
He added that the statistics include Mexico's position in terms of foreign exchange, as well as per capita spending.
"We have worked hard to break the loss of positioning in the international arena that had been suffering, in 2018, in terms of foreign exchange, which is how the tourism potential of a nation is measured, we were in the very distant 17th place and in per capita expenditure 40, today we are in the tenth and 28th, we will continue working," he exclaimed.
